New construction of the ÖBB Train Tech maintenance hall

Modern vehicles need modern halls

A state-of-the-art maintenance hall for the new “Cityjet DOSTO Neu” trainsets is being built at the former freight station in Vienna Floridsdorf. The site was chosen due to its convenient location in order to optimize access to the hall and make operating processes more efficient.

Construction work will begin in spring 2024 and should be completed by 2026. A maintenance hall with six tracks and an additional graffiti cleaning track will be built on a development area of around 40,000 m². The hall tracks will vary in length and will be equipped with specific maintenance facilities to ensure optimum maintenance of the new train fleet.

Focus on sustainability

ÖBB Train Tech attaches particular importance to environmentally friendly construction of the new maintenance hall in Vienna Floridsdorf. With over 5,200 m² of photovoltaic systems on the roof and façade, an output of over 1,100 kWp is achieved, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of around 360 households. In addition, extensive roof and façade greening ensures better integration into the surroundings and contributes to CO₂ and fine dust binding as well as cooling and humidifying the microclimate. These measures reduce the ecological footprint and optimize operating costs in the long term.
