Refurbishment and revitalization
With 2.3 hectares, the Naschmarkt is not only the largest, but also the most popular market in Vienna with around 60,000 visitors a week.
After a century of brisk market activity, a fundamental renovation of the infrastructure and a guarantee of the electricity supply security (transformer stations) was urgently needed. In the course of the renovation and revitalization project, all water and power lines as well as the sewage system and rainwater drainage were completely renewed. In addition, a modern waste compaction plant was built, which contributes to a significant greening and cost-efficiency in waste disposal. The greatest possible accessibility was achieved by completely redesigning the surfaces.
