Since 1997, numerous main stations and stops have been extensively renovated or newly built in order to improve user-friendliness, accessibility and intermodal connections. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"481\" data-end=\"867\">Originally, 43 stations and 50 stops were planned for modernization, but due to rising costs, the focus was placed on 20 central stations with an investment volume of over 1 billion euros.
