In order to meet the increasing demands of passenger and freight transport, the line is being extensively modernized and extended to two tracks. This project aims to increase capacity, shorten journey times and improve passenger comfort.  <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"1237\">Construction work began in 2015 and is due to be completed by 2029. A central element of the project is the creation of a continuous double track over a length of around 50 kilometers. The Hennersdorf, Achau, M\u00fcnchendorf and Ebreichsdorf stations have already been modernized. The double-track extension between Vienna and Wiener Neustadt was completed at the end of 2023.
